Civil Air Patrol

Civil Air Patrol Sugar Valley Composite Squadron

Picture
An auxiliary of the US Air Force, and part of the USA's Total Force, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) has three major missions: Aerospace Education, the Cadet Program, and Emergency Services. Aerospace Education is provided for cadets and adults. A major focus of the CAP unit at SVA is the Cadet Program for young people, ages 12 - 18.  All senior members and cadets are encouraged to develop practical skills in emergency services, including disaster relief, search and rescue, and both ground and aircrew training.

The cadet program provides leadership training, character development, aerospace education and physical fitness.  See additional information, as well as the cadets' perspective on the program.

The Civil Air Patrol Sugar Valley squadron features a special speaker each month.  Some of the past presenters have included:
  • Major Joshua Cunningham, CAP, with his presentation on "Making the CAP Difference for Life",
  • Bob Sutherlin, District Program Manager for the FAA Safety Team.
  • Jennifer Shoe, sharing her experiences training and using dogs in canine search and rescue teams.
  • And many more.
These events are open to the public. Please see Calendar for details.

Some members from the region completed a series of trainings for Wilderness Advanced First Aid.
Read about "The Untapped Potential of the Civil Air Patrol," written by a CAP cadet skilled in Emergency Services.
